First of all, this restaurant is CASH ONLY!The seatings of this mother-daughter owned restaurant are quite tight and crowded when it’s all full of customers, it makes you feel somewhat at home. Paula is the only person that speaks English so she helped us out with orders. She’s very nice, patient and helpful. Good thing I asked whether she accepted credit cards, she said no. But she asked us not to worry, just eat first and then go get cash and come back to pay the bill. Turned out that the food was amazingly delicious with really reasonable prices so we happened to have enough cash to pay for our food, which were grilled grouper, alcatra oxtails, fried small mackerels, fish soup and chocolate mousse, with side dishes of vegetable salad, sweet potatoes, potatoes, chickpeas and olives and corns…All costed us less than 70! That’s one of the best food we have had during our one week stay on Terceira Island and costed least for the quantity of food!I would strongly recommend everybody to come and try Snack-bar Saint Catarina. But you have to make a reservation in advance to avoid waiting in a long line.

Absolute gem that I wish we discovered sooner. Incredible service and beyond incredible flavours. Their menu offers a diverse assortment of local Azorean and Terceira-specific specialties. We loved the corn bread patties, fish soup, and the octopus alcatara. Phenomenal. If you’re new to Azorean cuisine, ask the servers to explain the dishes for you and you’re in for a treat. Also recommend to try their house-cured tuna with lemon and sea herbs. Out of this world. Can’t wait to return.

I was sunburned and exhausted when my tour guide brought me here. I just wanted to crawl into a dark room and go to bed; but this place gave me life! Lovely, welcoming host Paula explained everything. The fish stew was wonderful, as were the limpets. They also made a dark caramelized cake that was spectacular and had I felt better I probably could have eaten the entire thing myself!! Really lovely place!

Every time we are in Terceira this is one of our must stops. Paula and her family are very welcoming and make you feel special. Every meal we have ever had here has been delicious. The Lapas are perfectly cooked with a great garlic taste that doesn't overpower. The fish soup is delicious, I could eat it every day and not get tired of it.There's always a great selection of desserts. Highly recommend while visiting Terceira.

Snack Bar Santa Catarina is a true gem of Portuguese cuisine! The owner, Paula, treats the restaurant like her own child, and you can feel it in every dish. The food is incredibly delicious, prepared with love and great attention to detail. The atmosphere is warm and soulful – as if you’ve visited close friends. If you're looking for a place to truly experience the taste of Portugal, this is a must-visit!
